The Grand National East/West Combo events provided the opportunity for Lofton Racing to overcome the disappointments of previous races this season. The team turnout for the events sent many strong competitors home, and Justin Lofton was able to take advantage of the situation by capturing two top-ten finishes for the weekend. He also moved up to 7th place in the point standings. Monday morning this driver woke up wanting to do it all again.
The #66 Lofton Cattle/Cometic Gasket/Klotz Synthetic Lubricants Ford Fusion started mid-pack Friday night at Elko Speedway in the Minnesota “150” as one of thirty cars to make the cut following qualifying. The Iowa bullring set the stage for some tight racing, and contact from behind left Lofton restarting at the rear of the field early. The car worked well all night, and the patient driver was able to move through the pack, despite numerous cautions which slowed the process. Time did run out eventually, but Lofton was still able to finish eighth, and was one of the two Grand National West cars in the top-ten for the evening.
